She heard the howl in the distance, and it made her shudder.  What a beast, she thought, could possibly make a cry like that?  Although it seems so familiar to me.  She sat gazing out the window of her Tudor home, left to her when her father passed.
 
"I miss Rory," she sighed, as she gazed down at the garden below.  She thought, why would he leave tonight?  She turned to face the room and rose from her seat.  She began to slowly walk across the floor toward an armoire.  As she opened the door, she thought, I hope this isn't another few nights spent alone like last month and the month before that.  We've only been married since the beginning of Spring, and I want to spend every night with him.  Why is it that sometimes he needs to work at night, and the rest of the time he doesn't?  It just doesn't make sense.  She grabbed a blue nightgown and traded her day dress of white lace for it.  After switching her attire, she slowly waltzed over to the bed and crawled under the soft covers.  She shivered as she thought, tonight I sleep alone.

Dawn arrived, and a man was deep within the woods, his shoulder length red hair tousled by the morning breeze.
 
"Another long walk home," he said with a sigh.  He drew in a breath and then spoke again saying, "Once I'm home, she'll ask me how work was, and I will say all was well.  Then we will sit down and have breakfast together.  If only I could tell her the whole truth," ...
